Canadian Government Reintroduces Amendments to PIPEDA Privacy Legislation

Last week, the Canadian government reintroduced a bill to amend the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). An identical bill died on the order paper when federal elections were called for last May.

One of the changes proposed would oblige companies to report breaches of personal information to the federal privacy commissioner and affected individuals.
